Call for Workshops/Round Tables/Seminars:
Proposals are due by February 15, 2019.
There is a budget to pay professional presenters but we will also need presenters from within the outdoor ministry community who will already be present at the Great Gathering and are willing to offer their workshop as a gift to the community.
The workshop committee will review all proposals and notify presenters by April 1, 2019. Presenters will be given a form after workshop approval to express preferences for room setup and equipment needs.
Goals for Workshops, Round Tables & Seminars:
Our goal is to provide a variety of workshops, round tables, and seminars that educate, train, motivate, and equip Outdoor Ministry professionals and volunteers from a variety of backgrounds (executives, directors, program staff, board members, development, food service, site & facility, maintenance, etc.).
Workshops are 1 ¼ hour time blocks that are led by a presenter. Round Tables are 1 ¼ hour group discussions that are guided by a facilitator.
Seminars are 2 ¾ hour extended sessions that are led by a presenter.
What kind of workshops, round tables, and seminars are we looking for?
There will be approximately 18 workshops/round tables/seminars offered during each time block. We are seeking a wide variety of workshops, round tables, and seminars that meet the interests and needs of a wide variety of outdoor ministry professionals.
Potential topics could include, but are not limited to:
- fund raising
- food service
- site & facility
- board development
- summer staff
- topics specific to camper demographics
- working with children/youth, mental health
- faith development
- trategic planning
- staff training
- program ideas
- ecumenical relationships
- environmental responsibility, etc.
This is not a complete list and additional ideas are welcomed and encouraged!
